Video instructions for walnuts and wild garlic bread
I have used the classic sourdough bread. I’m sorry, but on my blog, I don’t have a recipe for making sourdough starter or detailed recipe for bread making, yet. I’ll get around to it eventually, but until then, you can find lots of helpful information on how to make amazing sourdough starter from scratch and also how to make sourdough on the links below.
In the recipe card I’ve listed a recipe for spelt sourdough, which I used to make this bread. You don’t have to use sourdough – you can use any type of dough bread you know how to do! You could also use this pizza dough recipe.
I promise it will be delicious whatever dough you decide to use, because the taste you will get from the main star of the recipe, wild garlic. Walnuts are adding amazing crunchiness and complement the wild garlic pesto perfectly.

What can you use as a substitute for wild garlic pesto in this recipe
If you don’t have ramsons, wild garlic pesto on hand or can’t find it, you can substitute it other types of pestos. The flavour will be different, but it will still be delicious.
- Regular basil pesto
- You could try using spinach or arugula pesto
- Delicious collard green pesto or kale pesto
- Or, if you feel adventurous try this amazing crithmum maritimum pesto
Just remember that the flavour profile will change slightly depending on the substitution, but the overall concept of a tasty pesto-filled bread with crunchy walnuts will remain the same.
