Heeey. Who says a little indulgence can’t coexist with a healthy body?
I mean, if you’re going to indulge, why not do it with a homemade batch of brownies?

Easy Brownies From Scratch ingredients list

Homemade brownies from scratch have one big advantage-you know exactly what goes into those little squares of joy.

Grab 2 eggs, flour, sugar, dark chocolate, and butter.

If you like, add chopped walnuts and some extra chopped chocolate for extra crunch. You can still make wonderful brownies without the walnuts and chocolate.

Mix everything together and bake in the oven for 25 minutes.

Yes, it doesn’t get any easier than that.

Here’s my golden rule of indulgence: If I want something sweet, I have to make it. No store-bought shortcuts for my sweettooth. In part because of my allergies, sure. But also because I put on weight just by thinking about the food.

So, fellow dessert rebels, if you’re ready to embark on a journey that might just redefine your relationship with brownies, buckle up. Because when it comes to these homemade treats, the only thing you’ll lose is your self-control. Happy baking!

Ingredients

  • 150g (5.3oz) flour – for gluten free version use almond flour (ratio 1:1)

  • 150g (5.3oz) dark chocolate

  • 100g (3.5oz) sugar

  • 100g (3.5oz) butter

  • 2 lightly beaten eggs

  • Vanilla extract or vanilla sugar

  • 100g (3.5oz) chopped walnuts

  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder

  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 350°F (180°C) and prepare the baking pan – butter or line with parchment paper.
  • Break the dark chocolate into pieces and combine with the butter in a heatproof bowl. Melt over simmering water until smooth. When smooth, remove from heat and allow to cool slightly.
  • In another bowl, whisk the eggs and sugar together until light and fluffy. Stir in vanilla sugar, if using.
  • Add melted butter and chocolate to eggs and mix.
  • Sift flour and baking powder into the mixture, folding in gently. Don’t overmix; we’re aiming for brownie bliss, not brownie bricks.
  • Toss chopped walnuts in the batter and fold them in gently. I always add a little extra chocolate. If you do, chop about 2 bars of dark chocolate and stir in with the walnuts.
  • Pour the dough into the prepared 20x30cm (8x12in) pan, spreading it evenly with a spatula.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes. Test with a toothpick – a few moist crumbs are fine.
  • Once out of the oven, let your brownies cool in the pan. Patience, they will be worth the wait.
  • Cut into squares or rectangles and there you have it – your homemade brownies! Serve on a plate or store in an airtight container for later (but seriously, you won’t have any leftovers, trust me).

Notes

  • Doesn’t matter what kind of baking pan you use, make sure your brownies batter is no higher than 2-3 cm (not more than an inch). You want them baked but moist 😉
